Dozens of new GP clinics on way to ease coronavirus burden

The RACGP has welcomed the fast-tracking of 20 new GP respiratory clinics across Melbourne that it says will help protect other practices from COVID-19 exposure.
The clinics will accept referrals from practices not set up to manage respiratory patients, and from EDs to help ease pressure on the hospital system.
The clinics are being backed by $24 million in state-government funding and are expected to open in the next three to six weeks in areas with high case numbers.
Some of the funding will also be used to allow the existing 28 GP respiratory clinics across Victoria to extend their opening hours.
