Dr Charlie Teo apparently worked as a ride-share driver last year to make ends meet amid mounting legal costs related to a disciplinary hearing.

The polarising surgeon’s stint driving for Uber to cover his mortgage repayments was revealed on Saturday after the eight-day hearing concluded.

The Daily Telegraph said Dr Teo “reluctantly confirmed reports that he was forced to drive for Uber to pay the mortgage last year”.

The report quoted Dr Teo saying: “The majority of work spent overseas is voluntary and often I have to absorb the travelling costs myself.
