Dr Charlie Teo has joined an expert medical panel on a new reality TV show that will judge the efficacy of home remedies such as dried seahorse to treat asthma.

Called Medicine or Myth?, the program will air on SBS later this month with the controversial Sydney neurosurgeon leading the panel.

The show will feature regular Australians pitching remedies for various ailments such as sauerkraut as a cure for acne or women dousing their face with menstrual blood to reduce period pain.

Dr Teo will then assess their claims, along with GP and TV personality Dr Ginni Mansberg and immunologist Associate Professor Ashraful Haque from the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute.
