The neurosurgeon tells Channel 7 he accepts key findings but is upset for the patients he will no longer treat.

Dr Charlie Teo is reportedly shattered by unsatisfactory professional conduct findings against him, but says he will take them “on the chin” and make efforts to ensure similar incidents never occur again.

Under conditions placed on his practice, the high-profile neurosurgeon must seek approval from another surgeon with at least 15 years’ experience in the specialty before undertaking any surgery on recurrent intracranial malignancies or brainstem tumours.

The findings relate to surgeries on two women where the risks outweighed any potential benefits, according to the Medical Professional Standards Committee.

Dr Teo also failed to obtain informed consent from either of the patients, it said on Wednesday.
