Dr Max Mollenkopf says the RACGP has “absolutely stooged practice owners” over its accreditation demands for practices to have “climate change champions”.

The high-profile GP claimed the new demands were an example of “absurd overreach” by the college and would result in more administrative work and higher costs.

The sixth-edition standards, released this week, for the first time include mandatory requirements covering AI and environmental impact.

They state practices will be required to nominate at least one staff member to take responsibility for engaging in and promoting environmental sustainability initiatives.
