Dr Nicole Higgins will be the next RACGP president after election goes down to the wire
Dr Nicole Higgins has been elected the next RACGP president.Â
The chair of GP Supervisors Australia beat Victorian GP Dr Chris Irwin by 400 votes despite trailing in the primary count, overturning the margin over several rounds of preferences (see detailed results below).
Dr Julian Fidge, the candidate who controversially backed ivermectin as a cure COVID-19, was last, but still managed to secure 390 votes from college members.
Dr Higgins will officially take the mantle from Adjunct Clinical Professor Karen Price at the RACGP’s annual conference in November. Â
