Dr Norman Swan apologises for linking cardiac death of Shane Warne to COVID-19
Dr Norman Swan has said he made a “terrible mistake” after suggesting that COVID-19 contributed to the cardiac deaths of cricket icon Shane Warne and Labor politician Kimberley Kitching.
The host of the Health Report radio show made the claim in an interview on ABC News on Tuesday, as part of a discussion on potential severe outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
“It’s too much of a coincidence that Shane Warne and the Labor Senator in Victoria died not long after a COVID-19 infection,” the former paediatrician told host Michael Rowland.
“People are reporting sudden death after COVID-19 … It’s not benign.”
