ECG cuts should be scrapped immediately: Labor

With a government review due in February, Opposition health spokesperson Chris Bowen says the MBS changes from August should be ditched right now
Opposition health spokesperson Chris Bowen.

Opposition health spokesperson Chris Bowen has called for restrictions on GPs’ interpreting the results of ECGs to be scrapped immediately.

In advertisements on social media, Mr Bowen says the MBS changes should be reversed as they endanger the health of Australians, making it harder for them to access ECGs.

From 1 August last year GPs have no longer been able to claim item 11700 (worth $27.95) for reporting trace results.

Instead they have been offered a new item 11707 (worth $16.15) for doing the “trace only”.
