End of COVID-19 pandemic is close, says the WHO

The WHO says “the end is in sight” for the COVID-19 pandemic after global deaths dropped to their lowest weekly average since March 2020.
With more than 60% of the global population receiving a primary course of vaccination, on Wednesday, WHO director general Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus declared that the world was “in a winning position”.
“We can see the finish line. But now is the worst time to stop running.”
“Now is the time to run harder and make sure we cross the line and reap the rewards of all our hard work.”
