An ENT specialist has described how she helped deliver a baby mid-flight with just a pair of gloves, some cabin crew to assist and a steely nerve to get her through.

Dr Alena Fedchenko, a Ukrainian ENT doctor, was on board a flight from Doha, Qatar, to Bangkok, Thailand, on Tuesday night when the flight attendants put out a call for urgent medical assistance.

Dr Fedchenko stepped up and found a woman already in labour on the floor of the flight attendant’s room, according to a report on BBC News.

“I was worried something might go wrong, [but] everything went smoothly,” Dr Fedchenko told the news organisation.
