ENT surgeon stumbles upon unidentified remains in corporate health offices
An ENT surgeon has discovered the remains of multiple unknown people at a public health service’s corporate offices, including a bucket of human bones preserved in formaldehyde and stowed in a fridge.
A disused room at Eastern Health’s administration building, opposite Box Hill Hospital in Melbourne, began leaking fluid into a hallway in February, according to the Coroner’s Court of Victoria, which is now investigating.
A nurse educator entered the room to find bone and tissue fragments in containers and waste bins.
She reported the incident to infection prevention and control officers within Monash School of Medicine, the counsel assisting the coroner said.
