Dr Tobias Pincock has paid back some of the money but breached patient boundaries: tribunal.

An ENT surgeon who persuaded two patients to invest over $500,000 in his business which later went bankrupt has been barred from practising for 18 months, following his latest tribunal hearing.

Dr Tobias Pincock was found guilty of professional misconduct in July for encouraging the patients to invest in his trust then using at least some of the money for his own purposes.

He had told the first patient, who had had 23 consultations with him, he was expanding his multi-specialist practices for rapid growth and resale within five years.

She and her husband handed over around $350,000 in 2015, negotiating a third mortgage to pay for the investment, because she considered him a “trusted friend”, the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal heard.
