Evidence for the CPD reforms? Here’s the medical board’s response

The changes introduced to CPD last year — those that have caused much angst and frustration for many doctors — are meant to be based on robust evidence.

And there is indeed a global academic industry surrounding CPD.

Last month, during our interview with the chair of the Medical Board of Australia, Dr Anne Tonkin, we asked for the references to the research underpinning the specific reforms adopted for doctors in Australia.

There has been a strong view among some that much of it is low grade with little direct evidence that patient safety or outcomes are improved.
