‘Existing relationship’ rule ditched for sexual health and abortion MBS telehealth

GPs have welcomed new MBS telehealth items for sexual and reproductive health consults which can be claimed regardless of whether the doctor has seen the patient before.
Introduced this month, the items are also available for phone and video consults related to bloodborne viruses and can be used for prescriptions of PBS Section 100 drugs.
The rebates are set at the same rate as the face-to-face attendance items.
However, telehealth consults related to antenatal care or assisted reproductive technology are not covered by the new items.
