Eye protection now mandatory for GPs in Victoria
GPs in Victoria must wear eye protection for all face-to-face care, whether patients have COVID-19 symptoms or not.
Officials issued the mandatory guidance to the state’s health workers on Thursday, citing the increasing cases of community transmission.
The guidance states goggles and face shields must be replaced or cleaned at least every four hours, and after a health worker assists with an aerosol-generating procedure.
Surgical masks already have to be worn by doctors for a maximum of four hours at a time, or less if the equipment becomes damp or soiled.
