Failed medical student worked as a psychiatrist for 20 years: UK prosecutors

A failed medical student went on to practise as a psychiatrist for more than two decades and even passed the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ clinical exams, a UK court has heard.
Prosecutors told the Manchester Crown Court that Zholia Alemi treated hundreds of patients through the NHS between 1995 and 2017, according to UK newspaper The Independent.
Ms Alemi is facing charges including fraud, forgery and obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception — all of which she has denied.
She was first registered as a doctor by the General Medical Council (GMC) in 1995, but 23 years later, the GMC issued a statement that her medical degree from the University of Auckland was bogus.
