Fitness-to-drive laws are back in the spotlight after a car driven by a 91-year-old killed two people and left a toddler seriously injured.

Victorian Acting Premier Ben Carroll said the State Government would re-examine the rules in the wake of the accident, where the woman’s car mounted a footpath and hit the three people on Thursday.

The woman, 59, died at the scene, and the man, 60, died on Saturday in hospital. A two-year-old was hospitalised in a serious but stable condition.

The trio were believed to be related, as the grandparents of the boy.
