Five more cases of the unusual blood clotting disorder linked to AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine have been reported by the TGA, all in patients older than 50.

It takes the total number of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) cases confirmed in Australia to 11, from 1.4 million vaccine doses administered.

The latest cases were a 74-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman from Victoria, a 66-year-old man from Queensland, a 64-year-old woman from WA and a 70-year-old man from Tasmania, the TGA said.

It also announced on Thursday that the regulator was “actively investigating” three more possible cases.
