Five families pitch in to launch a GP clinic in Katherine

Five local families have banded together to set up and run a new GP clinic to serve the NT town of Katherine.
The community’s only private GP clinic closed its doors in October last year when GP Dr Peter Spafford couldn’t find a buyer for his Gorge Health practice.
This left around 8000 residents without a GP and facing a three-hour trip to Darwin for in-person services.
Late last year the five families, who run local businesses, decided to work out a solution, rather than complain about the situation.
