The TGA has urged doctors to switch patients using fluoxetine 20mg dispersible tablets to 20mg capsules instead amid a shortage triggered by manufacturing issues.

Drug sponsor Alphapharm recently notified the regulator that the 20mg tablets (Zactin Tabs) would be in short supply until the end of February 2024 after detecting N-nitroso-fluoxetine, a nitrosamine impurity, in 26 batches.
