A small-town practice has made a creative attempt at solving its GP shortage, putting together a music video and publishing it online.

In a video posted on social media last week, residents of Temora, in the NSW Riverina, ask potential recruits to “picture a place where GPs are adored” as one of the perks of working in its community medical centre.

The song, performed by the Temora Great Quack Quest community group, is part of a GP recruitment campaign spruiking the benefits of life in the town that cannot offer beachside views or huge profits.

They came up with the idea when traditional job ads failed in magazines, and practices failed to attract any potential recruits, says group founder Dr Rachel Christmas, who came up with the idea.
