From saving lives to javelin medal: How Dr Mackenzie Little juggles medicine and world-class athletics

Dr Little's 'tumultuous' year has been capped by a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships.

Over a fortnight, Dr Mackenzie Little has gone from saving a patient’s life to proving she is one of the best javelin throwers in the world.

She has just won a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, after a gruelling year juggling training with her role as an RMO at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital.

In the week before joining the Australian team, Dr Little had just come off night shift in the ED — and treated a patient who was experiencing an MI, according to The The Sydney Morning Herald.

“If you’d spoken to me two days ago, to say that I had a medal today, I’d be just thrilled,’ she told reporters.
