German men’s risk of penile fracture greater at Christmas: study

Penile fractures are also linked to weekends, the summer period and extramarital affairs.

Yuletide – ‘tis the season of silly hats, long lunches, gift giving – and according to German researchers, too much saucy festivity.

Urologists at the University Hospital of Munich have done a study that points to a seasonality in the incidence of penile fractures.

“If every day was like Christmas, 43% more penile fractures would have occurred in Germany from 2005 on,” the authors wrote in what they claim to be a study first.

Published in the British Journal of Urology International, the authors’ investigation was based on the theory that the increase was related to the “intimacy and euphoria” of the Christmas spirit.
