The dispute between public psychiatrists and the NSW Government remains unresolved, with an “urgent” five-day arbitration hearing set for 17 March.

Mental health minister Rose Jackson said she was confident that the government could run the system in the short, medium and long term.

Around 206 psychiatrists have submitted resignations in protest of their pay and conditions, with those who remain warning the public mental healthcare system is likely to collapse.

Ms Jackson told the ABC this morning that 25 psychiatrists had rescinded their resignations and a further 81 had deferred them, with the remainder expected to leave over the coming days and weeks.
