Govt ‘fixes’ MBS restrictions on GPs ordering CT angiograms

GPs will once again be able to request CT angiograms for suspected pulmonary embolism without another specialist’s approval after the Federal Government admitted to misinterpreting MBS Review Taskforce recommendations.

Owing to what is being called an “implementation mix-up” by health officials, since May the items for CT angiography have excluded all scans of the pulmonary arteries requested by GPs.
