Govt ministers enter war of words with NT doctors
Doctors have accused an NT minister of misrepresenting landmark findings on family violence deaths and undermining the territory’s coroner.
Coroner Elisabeth Armitage published an expansive report last November after investigating the deaths of four Aboriginal women.
It highlighted the “horrifying reality” of domestic violence killings in the NT, revealing that the deaths of 68 other women had also been reviewed by her office.
The report made 35 recommendations, including a significant funding boost for the domestic violence sector.
