Experts on the MBS Review Taskforce committee which examined the ECG items say the Federal Government has distorted their findings to justify rebate cuts.

On 1 August, the Medicare rebate for an ECG in general practice is falling from $27.45 to $16.15, with GPs no longer able to bill MBS item 11700.

The RACGP and AMA have condemned the move, claiming they were blindsided when the changes were announced on the MBS Online website this month.
