Govt reinstates MBS item for long phone consults in COVID-19 hotspots

The MBS item for phone consults lasting 20 minutes or more has returned but only for patients in isolation or lockdown.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the policy reversal yesterday following lobbying from both the RACGP and the AMA.
With a rebate of $75.75, it is available from today in designated COVID-19 hotspot areas, which now include Sydney and Melbourne.
More than 12 million patients across Australia are currently in lockdown.
