Govt releases details of the $102 Medicare item for menopause assessment
GPs will need to perform a 20-minute assessment, including a physical examination and blood pressure measurements, to bill the Federal Government’s new Medicare item for menopause.
Patients with menopause, perimenopause or premature ovarian insufficiency will be eligible for the $101.90 rebate, according to a fact sheet from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
Item 695 can be claimed from next Tuesday.
The assessment must include history-taking, blood pressure measurement, “a basic physical examination” that records at least height and weight, consideration of referrals for mammography and bone densitometry, and a management plan.
