Governments across the country have failed to vaccinate Indigenous Australians against COVID-19 at the same rate as the rest of the population, with one state lagging by almost 30%, data reveal.

An update of Indigenous vaccination rates, shared by the Federal Government last week, shows gaps of more than a quarter of the total population in the worst-performing states.

No state or territory has managed to achieve parity, or close the gap, in getting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander vaccination rates to meet state averages.

The biggest gap is in WA where the difference in full vaccination rates is almost 30%.
