The long-foreshadowed voluntary patient enrolment scheme will begin this year, targeting so-called “frequent flyers” as well as regular GP patients, the Minister for Health and Aged Care announced today.

It now has a new name. No longer called MyGP, it will be branded My Medicare.

There is still no information on the money and how much funding will be generated for each patient who signs up.

Those details are expected to emerge in the federal budget next month.
