GP accused of ‘breaching boundaries’ after inheriting $30 million from patient

A GP who was left most of his patient’s $30 million estate is facing disciplinary action to determine if he breached professional boundaries by making unnecessary visits to the elderly man in the months before he died.
Dr Peter Alexakis was named as the main beneficiary of the 83-year-old’s estate in a will executed just three months before his death from colorectal cancer in October 2017.
The Sydney GP is currently embroiled in a battle in the NSW Supreme Court for the estate with the Salvation Army, the main beneficiary in a previous will.
The charity has alleged the GP “groomed” the patient to change his will and has asked the court to honour the earlier will in its favour.
