GP admits recruiting patients to vitamin marketing scheme during consults
An integrative GP is in hot water after admitting to recruiting two patients into a marketing scheme during consults.
The Gold Coast GP was last week reprimanded following revelations she had persuaded a patient to join Usana, a multilevel marketing company based in the US that sells nutritional supplements and skincare products.
The doctor had been working for the business since 2000. The role involved selling the supplements but also receiving commissions for signing up new marketing associates for the company.
In some years, the GP received more than $70,000 from Usana in commissions, the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal heard.
