A US doctor’s evangelising video claiming hydroxychloroquine cures COVID-19 has been removed by three social media giants for spreading misleading pandemic information.

Texas-based Dr Stella Immanuel says the virus could be “stopped in its tracks” in 30 days if every patient was given a combination of hydroxychloroquine, zinc and azithromycin in the early stages of infection.

The GP claims to have cured more than 350 patients including those with diabetes and hypertension. She says studies that have shown the anti-malaria drug doesn’t work are “fake science”.

The video — which has been viewed millions of times and was retweeted by US President Donald Trump — has now been removed by Twitter, Facebook and YouTube for spreading COVID-19 misinformation.
