GP chaos ignored in major report on vaccine rollout failures: RACGP
A major investigation into the COVID-19 vaccine rollout has virtually ignored the chaos faced by GP teams who have administered more than 31 million doses, the RACGP says.
The auditor-general’s report released on Wednesday criticised the rollout for “underestimating” the complexity of delivering the vaccines, particularly in aged care.
It also concluded that none of the government’s five timeline targets were met, including vaccinations for aged care, the vulnerable and Indigenous people.
However, through 120 pages the report was effectively silent on the challenges faced by GP practices – from supply issues to inadequate funding to confused messaging.
