GP to charge unvaxxed patients extra $10 gap fee

A GP will charge unvaccinated patients an extra $10 gap fee for face-to-face consults to cover PPE and cleaning costs.

Based in Tasmania, Dr Donald Rose says his practice is doing “whatever it takes” to avoid being shut down as a COVID-19 exposure site, including encouraging unvaccinated people to see a GP by telehealth or in their car.

“If they do want to come into the surgery, we want to wear extra PPE,” Dr Donald Rose says.

“Once they leave the building, we will clean the room down that they were in.
