A GP who claimed to be trialling a self-developed topical medication to treat complex regional pain syndrome has been charged with illegally suppling narcotics.

Dr Clive Stack fronted the Hobart Magistrate’s Court on Monday accused of 42 offences, including unlawfully supplying narcotic substances and prescribing restricted substances for unauthorised purposes.

The 56-year-old’s practice in Hobart was raided seven months ago by police, who seized computers, medicines and patient records.

At the time, he told ABC he had been treating patients with a novel medication as part of a research project.
