GP charged with manslaughter facing 2027 retrial after jury dismissed for misconduct
A GP charged with negligent manslaughter after a homebirth death will face a retrial in 2027 after the jury was discharged for misconduct.
Dr Robyn James pleaded not guilty in relation to the death of Vicki Butler, 41, who died after giving birth to her seventh child in 2017 in Ipswich, near Brisbane.
A trial began two weeks ago.
It heard that Ms Butler had died from a postpartum haemorrhage that occurred after Dr James arrived at 5am but before the GP called an ambulance at 6.42am.
