GP clinic set for legal payday over pharmacist landlord drama

The Sydney practice was forced to cancel appointments after equipment was dumped outside consultation rooms

A Sydney GP clinic, forced to cancel patient appointments after its pharmacist landlord dumped equipment outside its rooms, could be in line for a damages payout, after the NSW Supreme Court ruled in its favour.

In January, practice staff returned from the Christmas break to find that a large “metal structure” from the adjoining pharmacy area had encroached into its waiting room.

Further, waiting-room chairs had been moved into the corridor outside consulting rooms. The practice’s medical records and equipment, stored in three consultation rooms — and to which the practice had been denied access since July — had also been dumped in the space.

The practice, which sub-leases space from the pharmacist, was forced to cancel a locum and the 90 appointments scheduled for that week.
