The number of GPs who have now died from COVID-19 in the UK has risen to 16.

Dr Augustine Obaro, a London GP, is the latest to fall victim to the pandemic, dying on New Year’s Day.

The highly respected doctor qualified in Nigeria before moving to the UK to study as a GP. In addition to working at an East London practice since 2004, Dr Obaro undertook a significant amount of charitable work.

He returned to Nigeria every year to provide healthcare in his home village.
