GP corporate behind pharmacy HPV screening launches $20 ‘menopause blood test’

GP expert Dr Karen Magraith says that blood tests are generally not suitable for menopause diagnosis.

Wesfarmers-owned GP telehealth corporate InstantScripts is offering a $20 “Menopause and Perimenopause Blood Test”, weeks after it was criticised for its pharmacy HPV screening plan.

Wesfarmers’ pharmacy chain Priceline said earlier this month that some of its pharmacies would begin to offer HPV screening via self-collected swabs with clinical support from InstantScripts doctors.

The announcement alarmed clinicians and the Department of Health and Aged Care, which queried whether the plan met the National Cancer Screening Program’s safety and quality standards.

Then on 18 October, InstantScripts sent another promotional email to patients.
