GP corporate buys up Tristar practices

Dozens of GPs left in limbo when Tristar Medical Group entered administration may finally have some certainty after another corporate agreed to buy 12 of the company’s practices.
Family Doctor, which says it owns 57 practices in four states, has pledged to cover any back pay owed to GPs at the practices, which span Coffs Harbour in NSW to Ballarat in Victoria.
It says 80% of Tristar GPs and 60% of staff are working at the practices that have been snapped up and they will be permitted to stay on in their roles if they want.
It remains unclear whether it will continue Tristar’s policy of universal bulk-billing, although Family Doctor’s founder, GP Dr Rodney Aziz, says he plans to recruit more GPs to the practices his company has purchased.
