GP diabetes care reduces hospital admissions, study shows

New data from the 45 and Up Study shows the benefit of regular consults

Patients with diabetes who regularly see their GP are three times less likely to be hospitalised than those with less frequent attendances, Perth researchers have found.

The Curtin University-led team say their findings underscore the importance of continuity of care and GP-led management of chronic health conditions.

The researchers analysed data from 22,000 participants with diabetes in the NSW-based 45 and Up Study to assess the link between the proportion of time under cover of GP care — measured using the Cover Index
