A GP is urging one of Australia’s largest publishers to “chop the head off the snake” and stop printing celebrity chef Pete Evans’ cookbooks.

Dr Stephen Massey’s online petition aimed at Pan MacMillan Australia has so far gathered more than 3400 signatures in the last two weeks.

“From chef to celebrity to dangerous conspiracy theorist, Pete Evans’ evolution would be laughable if it wasn’t so terrifying,” the Sydney GP’s petition reads.

“Not content with spruiking questionable dietary practices, his advice now focuses on our public health measures and best defences against the coronavirus pandemic, while questioning the existence of the virus itself.”
