GP leading the PSR: ‘We are not a bunch of non-clinical people making opaque decisions’

He is the new Professional Services Review director, yet it is still surprising that Dr Antonio Di Dio describes the Medicare watchdog in terms of “deep affection” and being “close to my heart”.
Their relationship began 22 years ago, when the GP sat on a Professional Services Review (PSR) committee to review another doctor’s billing for the first time.
He says the experience was “absolutely fascinating”.
“Bit by bit, I did more regulatory part-time work outside of full-time clinical practice and I found it interesting, stimulating and rewarding,” he tells AusDoc.
