GP in legal fight for his deceased patient’s $30m estate

A GP who inherited the bulk of his patient’s $30-million estate has denied allegations he “groomed” the patient to change their will in the months before they died.
The Salvation Army, one of the main beneficiaries under an earlier will, alleges that Dr Peter Alexakis deliberately cultivated a friendship with Raymond McClure over the four years he treated him.
Mr McClure, who had terminal colorectal cancer, had originally made his fortune from buying and selling property and shares, but had no immediate family.
According to court documents submitted to the Supreme Court of NSW, the Salvation Army claims that in 2017 the GP made repeated visits during the evenings to Mr McClure’s hospital bed at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.
