GP management of CVD is ‘suboptimal’: Aussie study
CVD management in general practice is “suboptimal” with only four out of every 10 patients at high risk of the disease receiving guideline-recommended treatments, according to Australian research.
The NSW study also shows that among patients with established CVD just over half (57%) receive treatment in line with 2012 guidelines.
The researchers were led by Associate Professor Charlotte Hespe who is head of general practice at the University of Notre Dame in Sydney.
Professor Hespe and the research team analysed electronic medical-record data from more than 102,000 patients from 95 general practices in four states and territories.
