GP ordered to repay $300k in MBS claims for cosmetic work

A GP who billed Medicare more than $300,000 for cosmetic consultations has been handed a 12-month ban on claiming level D attendances.
Based in an upscale Melbourne suburb, the doctor operates a medical and aesthetic clinic with the stated aim of providing “individualised formulated treatment plans to more youthful, clear and healthier skin, using the latest technology laser machines”.
But she was investigated by the Professional Services Review for funding that vision on Medicare — in breach of the rules against making claims for non-therapeutic services.
