The GP practice condemned for charging hundreds of dollars for Pfizer vaccinations appears to be refunding its patients.

Blessed Health Care, based at the centre of one of Sydney’s COVID-19 hotspots, had originally put up posters at his two practices saying that new patients would have to pay $250 for an initial consult before being administered the vaccine.

It argued the fee was justified because it did not bulk-bill new patients and it could not administer a vaccine without first taking a medical history.

Following a public outcry, Minister for Health Greg Hunt said charging for the vaccine was “plain bad behaviour” and promised to “throw the book” at the clinic.
