GP practice’s cold chain breach results in 1600 letters to patients

A general practice has been under investigation and 1600 patients urged to consider revaccination following a cold chain breach at a medical practice.
Patients at the Heritage Medical Clinic in Richmond, NSW, were notified by letter last week that childhood vaccines — such as diphtheria, pertussis and MMR immunisations — may have been affected as well as COVID-19 vaccines.
Children aged five and under have been provided with individualised catch-up schedules.
“The breach was due to the practice being unable to provide evidence that vaccines were consistently stored at the correct temperature [since April 2019],” a NSW Health spokesperson said.
